It's all about you

I haven't blogged in a while, sorry. I have had a lot happen in my life. I have gotten divorced, pregnant with another set of surrogacy twins, delivered said surrogacy twins and gotten back down to my pre pregnancy weight again.  And now another new year with new opportunities, new friendships, new relationships, new goals, so many opportunities to be happy with yourself. I have said this before but do not make a new years resolution make a lifestyle change! It's not losing weight its becoming healthy. Which means it's forever, not until you lose the 10-50lbs you want to loose and then go back to your old habits. It took me 29 years to gain the 90lbs that I lost in only 3 years (it would have taken less time if I would have stopped getting pregnant) That's no time at all! But it was a lot of commitment at first then that commitment became routine. I no longer dread going to the gym, it's just a part of my day. I get to eat crap that I want to now, not all day everyday but I get treats. I always used to say I'd rather be fat and happy than skinny and miserable, but I'm not skinny and miserable I'm skinny and happy, the happiest I've ever been in my entire life. Best of all I enjoy time with my kids. I can take them to the trampoline park and keep up with them it's great! Do it for you though do it not so you'll live longer but so you'll live healthier. So you won't live on blood pressure medications, and insulin, and cholesterol meds. So your doctor won't know you by your first name and dread seeing you because he/she knows if you'd just eat better and exercise you wouldn't need any of the crap he's shoving down your throat! You are worth it! And if you have kids, they think your worth it too!

Vacation Time, from everything

The Bahamas are AMAZING!!  The only thing better than the Bahamas is going to the Bahamas on a floating buffet of all you can eat what ever you want whenever you want 24 hours a day for a whole 7 days!  I recommend this to everyone at least once in their lives.  I've worked so hard for the last 7 months to get back down to my pre pregnancy weight of 156 lbs.  I got to 148 lbs, then I went on a cruise.....
There was a lot of salad, and rolls, beef, chicken, pasta, creamy sauces, and my favorite, desert!  And I ate some salad, but mostly everything else.  It was amazing to take a vacation and not worry so much about weight loss but I was still worried about being healthy.  I ran while I was on the ship and not to mention the fact that the ship is like 50miles long and 20 miles wide (slight exaggeration there) I walked a lot to get to all that food I was eating. I chose the leaner meals, but I always got desert I mean I was on vacation after all.
We also went on shore excursions where we did a lot of walking, and swimming.  We might have done a lot of lounging too?  Who can say what a lot is?  But we had an amazing time and I don't regret one piece of food I ate, well maybe the fried conch I had in Nassau, but only because it had absolutely no flavor.  I'm not gonna lie though I weighed myself when I got home that next morning and in 7 days I gained 9 lbs!!  I could't believe it, It takes me at least 1 week to loose 2 lbs and thats on my minimal caloric intake of 1200cal and working out hard 3-4 times a week.  I was so disappointed in my body that it was so easy to gain the weight I had worked so hard to loose.
Monday morning was back to the usual, wake up take the kids to school and hit the gym.  It was awesome to be back in the gym, it made me not worry so much about the weight I had gained because I knew I could loose it.  I know how to do it and I have the motivation to do just that.  So I did and today 1 week later I weigh 150 (my original goal weight after the birth of the twins)  So as fast as I put it on it came off pretty fast too.  Good to know for future vacations huh?! ;)

One Body

My plan with this blog is not to judge you, not to tell you that I think you need to loose weight or even how to loose weight because what worked for me may not work for you.  I hope to serve as an inspiration to you.  I am here writing this solely to help you with whatever struggles you may be going through by encouraging you.  My way of encouragement may, at times, seem harsh but sometimes that's what people need!! If you don't like it don't read it.
Now, with that being said, Let's talk about your body, my body, the human body.  We are born with everything we need (most of the time) We take it for granted, those that are born perfect.  We have 2 arms, legs, feet, eyes that hear and ears that see. Our body's are a perfectly well oiled machine, our hearts beat to keep us alive and our brains fire like lightning to keep ours thoughts running like wildfires so that our body's can do what they do.  Our brains know what our body's capable of, but the human spirit can be broken so easily if you let it.  It's so easy to talk your self out of what our brain knows is best for our body's. I'm tired, I'm hungry, I just don't want to.
Well, change it.  These are your thoughts that make you choose, your brain, it's yours.  Only you can choose to do what's best for you.  And your body, you only have one for the rest of your life you have one body, one brain.  They are yours, CHANGE THEM!!  It is up to you and only you.
Make the choice to be the best version of you.  The healthiest version of you.  Challenge your body, go for a walk, or jump on a cardio machine at the gym.  You will start slow, maybe 10 minutes the first few times, but push yourself EVERY TIME! Don't over do it, don't be dumb about it.  Just do it till you don't think you can do it anymore, then talk your body into 5 more minutes.  Your body will listen, it's your mind that's the problem here, it's breaking you.  It's lowering your will to move, raise it up keep going and Work it B!
On to another subject, no amount of working out is going to break down the cholesterol in your veins.  You have to change your diet.  And just because you worked out doesn't mean you earned a cheeseburger, or whatever it is that calls your name over and over again.  Yes, working out is going to be better than eating that cheeseburger and not working out, but you can not replace the calories you just worked off with food.  That's not going to help you loose weight, if that is your goal.  Calories in vs calories out. Set a caloric goal for your day and stick to it.  Write everything down, EVERYTHING!!  I set mine very low 1,200/day, did I always stick to it? NO! But I tried very hard to stay close to it.  If you work off 400 cal while working out then you can replace those calories, but don't expect to keep eating whatever you want and replace your calories lost while working out.  You will not loose weight like that.  In vs Out. You must have less in than out to loose weight. I like to use MyfitnessPal.com it has a lot of foods already in it and even foods from restaurants.
Heres an example of one day in my diary.  This just happened to be mommy daughter date night.  I was still on a 1200 cal/day restriction at this time, but it's showing my current calorie allotment now that I'm at my goal weight the calorie allotment went up significantly.  Something to look forward to right?!

It's a lifestyle, change it!

For anyone that knows me, you know I'm not shy to tell it like it is!  I'm honest to a fault as some might say, or no filter.  So if you want someone to tell you its ok that you eat a donut every morning or that it's easy to loose weight, then you are on the wrong site.  But if you need a kick in the ass to get in shape then keep reading.
So you've spent the last several years eating whatever you want and sitting on your ass or going on a walk here and there and then complained about how fat you are and how depressing it is that no matter how hard you try you just can't loose weight.  So you tried Hydroxycut and Sensa, or some other quick fix pill and guess what, it didn't work!!!
Well heres your wake up call, get off your fat ass and WORK FOR IT BITCH!  There is no quick fix to help you loose weight, no magic pill or even personal trainer that can melt away your years of self abuse.  I know this because that was me.  I was always complaining about how fat I was and how I didn't have time or money to loose the weight, always making excuses for my laziness.  And guess what, I still felt Pretty, and you are most likely beautiful, but this new Big is Beautiful "thing" is not ok.  It is not OK to be unhealthily overweight, ever.  You will get diabetes, high blood pressure, back pain, knee pain, pregnancy complications are more likely, stroke, and a multitude of other health complications.  I want you to be healthy for you and your family and your future and so should you! But its gonna take some work and a lifelong commitment to yourself.  I started my commitment to myself abut 2 years ago after the birth of my first surro baby. (baby I carried for someone else)
The left picture is approximately when I started loosing weight, which was in March of 2013 I was 236lbs.  The one on the right is on New years eve of the same year. At that time I was preparing to do another surrogacy journey there I was 162lbs.  I was the queen of excuses also the queen of complaining about how fat I was.  But I always knew there wasn't a magic cure to obesity.  I knew I was gonna have to work hard to loose the weight, I was just too lazy and full of excuses.  Anyways, heres my story. Stay tuned!
